Northern Ireland Archers Hit the Mark at British Field Championships

Northern Ireland archers enjoyed a superb weekend at the British Field Championships in Pentreath, with sunshine, a challenging course, and eight medals to celebrate.

Hosted by Pentref Archery Club, the event was praised for its excellent organisation, transport, facilities, and catering—though the midges made their presence known!

Medal Highlights

Connor Hall claimed gold in men’s recurve, edging Patrick Huston by just one point, with Huston taking silver. Jack Walsh secured compound gold, while Remained Mehaffey (master ladies barebow) and Alan Convery (masters compound) added silver and bronze respectively.

Junior archers also impressed, with Annabel Mulligan and Ronin Devine both winning gold, and the Northern Ireland team taking bronze in the Home Nations event.

Rising Stars

Thirteen-year-old Annabel Mulligan – shot a personal best of 506 – was supported by her grandfather (Frank) and father (Peter former world champ)

“The course was great fun, and the junior group really bonded. I’d love to come back.”

For Ronin Devine, it was a memorable debut:

“It was an amazing experience. I learned so much and can’t wait to return.”

Despite no raffle wins, spirits remained high, with archers and supporters alike hailing it as a brilliant weekend.
