Introducing the Committee

Chairman: John Patrick

Although only recently taking up the sport of archery (04/23) I have established myself within the male 50+ recurve class. I presently hold 2 NI records. I also shoot with Nifaa and besides holding records also hold NI indoor champion and recently UK and all Ireland field and hunter champion within veteran male freestyle recurve category.

Prior to archery I competed internationally in sailing competitions and held the Irish Champion position for 6 yrs.

Whilst mainly shooting recurve I also shoot barebow and compound.

From an organisational aspect I am qualified to MBA level and have held numerous managerial position during my working life.

I previously served as Chairman for Belfast Lough Sail ability, a charity set up for disabled/disadvantaged individuals of all ages, to have the opportunity to get on the water. During this tenure I was involved in all aspects of the organisation from volunteer training, funding, event organisation and acquisitions. I still volunteer with this organisation.

I believe the above experience would provide NI archers with a chairman who would adopt a fresh, structured and all round approach to the position.

Vice Chair: Darren Haveron

Bio I have been involved in ArcheryNI for over 21 years. I strongly believe in integrity, honesty and transparency with fairness applied to all situations . I will stand up against wrongful and unfair actions.

In my Archery journey, I have held roles on committees such as Chairperson, tournament officer, development officer, and premises officer.

I strongly believe that for a successful committee, that members must help each other in their roles and must fully engage with the membership who has trusted them to their position.

During my Archery journey, I have been lucky to have represented ArcheryNI which I hold in high esteem. I have in that time I also have been a coach and a mentor to others in their Archery journeys.

As a junior she has represented NI on a number of occasions as a recurve archer and holds many accolades within archery, she is currently now out of juniors and is looking forward to seeing how she does on the open stage.

At present Marjan is studying accountancy and would like to use these skills to help archery here in NI.

Regional Coaching Advisor: Michael Ferguson

I have over 20 years experience in archery with coaching making up a big part of this. I am a member of Northern Ireland Civil Service Archery club and run Peninsula Archery Coaching, an AGB AAP.

In my time in archery I have been a club secretary, tournament organiser and Chairman. At regional level I have been a field archery advisor, field team captain, field team manager, Membership Director and I am currently ANI Coaching Director and a County Judge. At International level I have been the Archery Ireland Junior Team Manager and Coach. I have guided and mentored archers through their coaching courses and also mentored a friend as he set up a now very successful archery business. Records Officer: Isaac McIlrath:

Isaac is a young archer from Lisburn City Archery Club currently studying music and sound recording in the University of Surrey. He has been a member of the club since 2022. He has achieved several medals at junior and senior levels and has been a keen volunteer outside of competing. Isaac has a keen eye for spreadsheets and data tracking and will often find him doing maths for fun!

Tournament Adviser: Graham Patterson

Graham can often be found at field competitions helping all he can as IT support for his local club, he has great experience using software such as Ianseo and would be confident in setting up a website for NIA and has plenty of experience working on underlying technologies from the very beginning of the internet.

Although not an archer the above skills and time spent around the archery world make him an ideal candidate for this role.
