Overview
We are launching a Pathway Coach Development Programme to support the ongoing evolution of
the Olympic and Paralympic Pathways.
This programme is designed to:
- Support the development of existing and emerging coaches
- Identify individuals with the potential to contribute to future Pathway and regional delivery
roles as part of a sustainable, future-focused coaching system
Participation in the programme represents an opportunity to learn, contribute and develop within a
high-performance coaching environment.
What the programme involves
The programme will run over approximately 12 months from October 2026 and includes a blend of
structured learning, practical experience and supported development.
The programme is offered at a heavily subsidised fee of £200, representing excellent value for a
12-month, high-quality coaching development experience.
Key elements
Psychologically informed coaching programme - A structured programme focused on helping coaches create effective, athlete-centred
training environments - Includes webinars, discussions and applied reflection
Technical workshops
In-person sessions focused on: - Understanding and applying the Pathway technical framework
- Building alignment across coaches
Camp involvement - Opportunities to attend camps in a shadowing/support capacity
- Exposure to Pathway delivery, coaching collaboration and performance environments
Ongoing support and programme oversight - Review of coaching practice and development
- Support in building a coaching portfolio and individual development plan
Purpose and outcomes
The programme aims to: - Broaden and strengthen the Pathway coaching workforce
- Support the development of coaches capable of contributing to:
o Future regional Pathway delivery and/or
o Stronger performance environments within clubs - Build greater consistency, alignment and resilience across the system

Programme brief for applicants
At the end of the programme, coaches will receive feedback and guidance. Progression into (limited)
formal Pathway roles is not guaranteed, but the programme will inform future decisions.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for coaches who: - Have experience supporting athletes within development or performance environments
- Are open to learning, reflection and feedback
- Are willing to work within a shared technical framework
- Value collaboration and can contribute positively to a team environment
- Are committed to creating athlete-centred, high-quality training environments
We welcome applications from a diverse range of coaching backgrounds, including those who may
be earlier in their development but show strong potential.
Commitment required
Participants will be expected to: - Engage fully with the programme over its duration
- Attend workshops, online sessions and camp opportunities where assigned
- Contribute actively to discussions and shared learning
- Reflect on and apply learning within their own coaching environments
Important information - Selection is based on potential, alignment and readiness to develop, not just experience
- Places on the programme are limited and not being selected for the upcoming cohort does
not indicate a lack of future potential or other opportunities - Participation does not guarantee a Pathway coaching role in the future
